  1. OpenVPN config files (.ovpn) offer an easy way to configure OpenVPN on your computer to work with our servers. These files contain the correct cipher types, Certificate Authority, Certificate, and Private Keys. You can use these files on Mac, Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS.
  2. Download the basic OctaneVPN Config File and save it to a convenient location on your computer
  3. The default .ovpn on our site is pre-configured for our Washington, DC gateway.
If you want to connect to a different Gateway City, make a note of the URL of any of our Gateway Locations.
  4. Use a text editor to open the default .ovpn file.
Edit line 3 which looks like this:
    remote gw1.iad1.octanevpn.com 443
Change the "gw1.iad1" portion to match the URL of the Gateway City you want to use instead. For example to choose Miami:
    remote gw1.mia4.octanevpn.com 443
  5. You can create multiple .ovpn files for the Gateways you want to use.
Save each .ovpn file with an appropriate name such as 'Washington.ovpn', 'Miami.ovpn', 'London.ovpn', etc.
  6. On your OpenVPN device, you can select among different .ovpn files to change your location
